It has long been a goal of Interesting to expand into a product or service that didn't necessarily sit within the digital arena. The gym and fitness sector, which is seeing continuing growth, was identified as an area where we could utilise pre-existing, employee knowledge and passion.

Created as a way to diversify Interesting as a business, generate new income, improve employe benefits and importantly reward long-term employees with a stake and say in the new venture, in late 2016, Interesting Fitness was born.

The journey

Interesting Fitness opened its doors to a 130 sqm fitness studio, just a short walk from Martin Place. Consisting of two dedicated training areas, one focused on strength & conditioning, the other on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, we quickly established a dedicated and loyal band of members and high participation from our employees.

Then before we could get going, we hit our first hurdle. The Sydney Metro, Australia's largest public transport infrastructure project carved its route through the Sydney CBD, and with it, the location of our gym - Our building was to be knocked down. Despite some early and understandable despair, we quickly turned this to our advantage as we saw an opportunity to create a bigger and better Interesting Fitness. For six months we searched the Sydney CBD real estate to find a space that would allow us to expand beyond the original concept into something genuinely unique to the Sydney CBD.

May 2017, Interesting Fitness re-opened in a 370 sqm location near Town Hall. With four training zones, the latest strength and conditioning equipment, a 17-meter bouldering wall, a first for Sydney CBD, and a significantly expanded timetable - we are now firmly established as one of Sydney's most unique and best gyms.

Today

Interesting Fitness is a one-of-a-kind fitness space in the heart of the Sydney CBD. We are experts in fitness who believe in multi-discipline training centred around fitness activities that create a sense of community.

We are, to the best of our knowledge, the only fitness space in Australia that has brought together the communities of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai & Boxing, Indoor bouldering, strength, conditioning and high-intensity interval training under a single roof. All within a membership structure that allows you to train cross-discipline - we truly deliver against our tagline of Roll Kick Climb.

“Easily one of the best gyms I've ever used! Every instructor is highly experienced”

Our aim was simple, to create that all-important "third space." A place beyond home and work that promoted a focused style of training with experienced trainers. Importantly it had to feel accessible, with community-minded regulars who supported, listened and motivated each other to reach their fitness goals.

This is backed up by what our members say (all comments taken from Google and Facebook reviews):

“Loved the vibe and the trainers. The challenging classes keep me coming back and I'm making amazing friends along the way!”

“Fantastic studio! I have been training here for over a month and I am already seeing results. Very friendly, dedicated and results-driven trainers that push you to your limits, in the best way possible.”

“What a refreshing vibe and energy - absolutely delighted with my first taste of life at Interesting Fitness.”

Digital smarts

In digital, fitness is a competitive place. We have used all our digital smarts to level the playing field against the big players, and stand out against the many local gyms.

With minimum spend and maximum effort, our mobile first, responsive website www.interestingfitness.com.au, designed and built by the team at Interesting, is regularly reviewed to ensure that it is fast, easy to use and scores highly with Google Lighthouse speed test and search algorithms. SEO performance is tracked and new content created or existing content updated to ensure we perform well with organic search. This is all backed up with low-level, highly targeted Facebook and Instagram ads to capture users in their newsfeed.
