Usability Review / Usability Testing
At Interesting we conduct two different usability review processes that provide
you with expert analysis and detailed recommendations that you can implement right
away.
Depending on the stage of a website in its lifecycle and the kind of issues that
should be brought to light one or both of the following methods is appropriate:
- Usability Review
- Usability Testing
Both approaches are aimed at improving site usability, customer experience, and
conversions but differ in methodology and results.
Usability Review
In our usability reviews skilled evaluators inspect your site to identify potential
problems. Our work in this stage is based on research, common usability conventions,
and our experience with users from usability tests.
All issues are explained and prioritized in a single review document and we provide
recommendations on short-term fixes that can be implemented without much effort
to improve your site. In addition, we highlight longer-term issues that can be solved
but require more in-depth analysis and design.
A usability review is particularly appropriate if an application has to be assessed
in a short amount of time or if an application is not sufficiently mature yet for
usability testing with real users.

Usability Testing
Usability testing involves getting people from the target audience to evaluate your
site while performing specific tasks. This method takes more time to plan and organize
but can provide a clearer picture of the real problems people encounter because
they are derived from real users in the first place.
Usability testing is particularly suited to finding issues related to special domain
knowledge of users and to revealing what path they follow while performing a task.
During a usability test participants are assigned specific tasks to carry out and
we encourage testers to think aloud at all times. Interesting provides a written
usability report with clear recommendations as well as DVD with testing videos.
In addition we are able to prepare a short presentation of the outcomes and run
an implementation workshop to brainstorm recommendations.
