As part of its diversification strategy
Medibank Private partnered with
The Hollard Insurance Company and
Swiss Re to develop a unique life insurance product.
Hollard Financial Services specialises in the distribution of life insurance products
and the customisation for medium to large retail organisations. Hollard's focus
in tailoring new products is a service oriented approach that reduces complexity
for the customer and maximises sales opportunities.
With a proven track record for user friendly interface design, Interesting was involved
from the early stages to realise the online channel for this product. Interesting
were tasked with implementing an interface that is based on the logic of complex
Swiss Re decision trees while obfuscating this complexity from the customer.
Over the course of three months between July and October 2008, Interesting implemented
two versions of the product quoting and application process:
The first version is the public interface, which can be found on the Medibank Private
website at http://life.medibank.com.au
In addition to the public site, Interesting developed a second version for use by
the Hollard call centre. This version differs in wording and alerts that are optimised
for and tailored to, trained sales staff as opposed to retail customers. Also, the
call centre interface uses existing customer data from a CRM system for non-medical
questions, a feature that will greatly facilitate Medibank Private’s focus to cross-sell
the product to its existing membership base of over 3 million people.
Medibank launched the new life insurance product in early October 2008 and was very
pleased with the results.
